Olfactive Interpretation
Wind of revolution: bergamot, sea salt, sea notes Let the party begin: black tea, leather, castoreum Greetings from Boston: oakwood, cedarwood, ambergris
The narrative places us in the protagonist’s shoes on this December evening.
We slip through the crowd through the port district of Boston. The cool, crisp minerality of the Atlantic air and the miasma of an 18th-century trading city mix in our nostrils. Once on board, we feel there is no turning back. Together with our companions, we go down to the hold filled with the smell of old, salt-eaten wood and ship tar. It’s finally here – our goal! To make sure, we tear off the lid.
The intense smell of Chinese tea spreads through the cramped oak room. The companions nimbly carry the crates on deck and throw them overboard – directly into the ocean depths. Standing on the deck, we get the impression that the aroma of green-black tea-dry mixes with the sea breeze, creating a sublime background for an act that will make a lasting imprint in the history of mankind.
The fragrance is spacious and cool, at first fresh and penetrating thanks to the sea air, later moving into a tea heart that becomes more and more promiment with time. In the background we have oily, dry combinations of impregnated wood with the tonic sweetness of ambergris. In parallel, we are accompanied throughout by port connotations – the smell of grease, wooden crates, winter smoke, capturing the atmosphere of the Boston skyline shrouded in darkness and cold.
