The Tablecloth

As you step over the threshold, after a long absence, you notice the scent of the freshly polished parquet floor, warmed by the sun’s rays, which creaks beneath your feet. The smell of dinner cooking – probably some sort of soup. Tea with honey, waiting for you on the table covered with a lace tablecloth next to the kitchen. Herbs and wildflowers hanging and drying from the ceiling. All that greenery around, streaming in through the open window, trying to get inside. Familiar scents, missed for some time.
